  • Weekly Message–July 26-30, 2021

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of July 26.

Canvas is now up and syncing with PowerSchool. You should be able to see all of your courses on your Dashboard tomorrow. This is also where the Global Announcements will be sent daily. If you don’t see a course posted, check with that class period teacher.

Tomorrow is the last day to request a schedule change. The link can be found on my blog and you must access it using your school email.

If any student believes that they are in the incorrect advanced ELA/English or Math class according to their schedule, please email Ms. Taylor.

Also, all 7th and 8th graders that have been placed in math 1 for this year, please check your email to make sure you received the link which is a release form from Ms. Gray Taylor. If you have any questions or have not received the email, please email Ms. Taylor.  @ Ashley_taylor.dpsnc.net

Remember that students must wear masks at all times, except while eating lunch or socially distanced outside.  Students may ask for permission to use the mask break stations throughout the day. We encourage students to bring reusable water bottles to refill at the water fountains.  We are still socially distancing as much as possible. Please help us remind your children to follow the classroom and hallway procedures. Let’s keep each other safe.

The DPS returning student registration portal is now open and ready for use. If you have a student who was in a DPS school last year, you will use the returning student registration portal to complete your child’s registration process for the 21-22 school year. There will be no paper registration packets. You may complete the registration process by going through your Parent Portal account, or, if you do not have a Parent Portal account, with a unique snapcode you can obtain via the email sent on 7/20/2021 to the address we have on file. If you do not have a parent portal account and did not receive an email with your unique snapcode, please contact the school directly at 919-560-3535 for assistance. Please note that the registration process CANNOT be completed using the PowerSchool mobile app. You must complete the process using the browser on your phone or computer. Please have this process completed by August 30.  Contact Ms. Fleming  for further assistance or questions regarding the return student registration portal.

If you still need to find your child’s bus information please use the Here’s the Bus App. The link is located on the DPS website. You will need your child’s PowerSchool ID number. You may contact Dr. Dixon, assistant principal, if you need assistance with your bus.

All students may receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. We do ask that you complete the Free/Reduced Lunch Application forms because this assists with DPS receiving funding.

We’re excited to be a site for Community Education Before School Care for middle school students. The applications are on the SCS website.

Always check our website, my blog—Price’s Write, our Facebook page, and Twitter for frequent updates about what’s going on at SCS.

Have a great evening from everyone at SCS where we practice the 4C’s–Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Community.

  • Weekly Message — July 19–23, 2021

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of July 19.

Welcome back to the first day of school for the 2021-2022 school year!  We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning Monday, July 19.  School begins at 9:00 a.m. and drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. in the carpool line at the front of the school.  School dismisses at 4:00 p.m. Carpool Maps are available on the SCS website to explain how carpool works for new families. This is primarily for our middle school parents because middle school students are dropped off in the front in the morning and picked up on the side of the building in the afternoon. High school students are dropped off and picked up in the front carpool line. Siblings that are in mixed grades go to the front with the high school students.

If you need to find your child’s bus information please use the Here’s the Bus App. The link is located on the DPS website. You will need your child’s PowerSchool ID number. You may contact Dr. Dixon, assistant principal, if you need assistance with your bus.

Students may access their schedules in PowerSchool. If they wish to request a change in a class, we will share the link to do so tomorrow morning via Canvas Global Announcements. Students must follow their current schedule until a schedule change is approved.

Remember to wear your masks and we encourage you to bring a water bottle to use throughout the day. I want to remind you that we are still socially distancing as much as possible and this includes no hugging and sharing materials. Please help us remind your children the importance of this.

All students may receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. We do ask that you complete the Free/Reduced Lunch Application forms because this assists with DPS receiving funding.

Parking permit applications are available in the main office for those students with drivers’ licenses who wish to drive to school. The cost is $75.00. These may be purchased anytime during the school year.

We’re excited to be a site for Community Education Before School Care for middle school students. The applications are on the SCS website.

Always check our website, my blog—Price’s Write, our Facebook page, and Twitter for frequent updates about what’s going on at SCS.

Have a great evening from everyone at SCS where we can’t wait for the Mighty Gryphons to Return!
