Weekly Message–August 29 – September 2, 2022

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of Aug 29, 2022.

__________

PTA School of Excellence Baseline Survey

This year the SCS PTSA set a goal for our school to receive and be recognized by the National PTA as a School of Excellence.  This program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-driven decisions that yield positive, long-term results.  School of Excellence is committed to supporting and recognizing partnerships between local PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students.  During the General Body Meeting on Curriculum Night we handed out the SCS PTA School of Excellence Baseline Survey to those in attendance; however we need more families to complete the survey.  Please use this link to complete the Baseline Surey.

Principal Search Input Meeting

Please join us for a parent/community meeting on August 30, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. We will discuss the process and timeline for selecting your new principal. We have emailed you a Zoom link and we have sent a survey link by email and posted it to the Creative Studies website. These links can also be found in Canvas Global Announcements. Please complete this survey to give input regarding the qualities you seek in Creative Studies’ next principal. The survey will be open through September 5.

Volunteer with SCS PTSA for Duke Concessions

SCS students, staff and families: We need your help with selling concessions at Duke home football games!  The SCS PTSA will receive ~10% of all sales from our stand just for volunteering our time.  The money earned will go towards purchasing a new marquee sign for the school.

Staff, high school students 16 years and older, parents, and adult family friends are welcome to sign up to volunteer. NOTE: The high school minimum age of 16 is an update from what was communicated at curriculum night. We apologize for overlooking this detail with Duke’s specific age requirement and having to make this adjustment.

We still need several volunteers for the first game on Friday, September 2 from 5:30-9:30 pm. Please go to our SignUpGenius page to sign up! We will send all instructions and credentials for volunteering home with your student the day before the game.

As an added incentive, the first period class with the most sign-ups at the conclusion of the football season will get a pizza party!

Please contact parent Nathan Hester at audit@theptsa.com with any questions!

Farewell

Wednesday is my last day and I am full of emotion. I believe that as a community we have created something special at Creative Studies and I am grateful to have been part of this for so many years. I look forward to seeing the incredible achievement that is to come and seeing you at milestone events like graduation. With all my love, I wish you all the very best that life brings.
