    Breakfast is still free for everyone, but you must pay for lunch. Free & Reduced Lunch forms are available in the main lobby and online at the SCS website.

    High school parking passes must be purchased every year. You cannot use passes from previous years. The passes can be purchased from Ms. Sparks and cost $75.

    Your first agenda book is free. Replacement books are $5.00, and you must have an agenda book all year.

    School Times/Carpool

    Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year!  We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning Monday, July 18 to start the Best Year Ever! School begins at 8:30 a.m. and drop-off begins at 8:10 a.m. in the carpool line at the front of the school.  School dismisses at 3:20 p.m. Remember that all carpool students are dropped off in the front traffic circle in the morning. Middle school students are picked up on the side of the building in the afternoon. High school students are picked up in the front carpool line. Siblings that are in mixed grades go to the front with the high school students. 

    Bus Information

    If you need to find your child’s bus information please use the Secure Bus Stop Information Service link. You will need your child’s PowerSchool ID number. You may also want to download the Here’s the Bus App which will allow you to track your child’s bus. Both links are located on our website or the DPS website. You may contact Ms. Durkin, assistant principal, if you need assistance with your bus. 

    Schedules/Schedule Change Requests

    Students may access their schedules in PowerSchool. If they wish to request a change in a class, the link to do so will be shared via Canvas Global Announcements and my blog tomorrow. The deadline to request a change is Friday, July 22. Students must follow their current schedule until a schedule change is approved. 

    Breakfast/Free & Reduced Lunch Applications 

    All students may receive free breakfast in our cafeteria.  Applications for Free/Reduced Lunch are on our website or paper forms can be picked up in the cafeteria or the main office. Contact Ms. White, our cafeteria manager, if you have any questions. 

    Parking Permits for Student Drivers 

    Parking permit applications are available in the main office for those students with drivers’ licenses who wish to drive to school. The cost is $75.00. These may be purchased anytime during the school year. 

    PTSA is Selling Spirit Wear 

    PTSA is selling SCS sweatshirt hoodies and other swag. Please visit their website to place your order. Deadline is July 31. 

    Before School Care Applications 

    We’re excited to be a site for Community Education Before School Care. The applications are on the SCS website.

  • Weekly Message–June 6-10, 2022

    Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for June 6, 2022. 

    COVID Update 

    This week SCS reported 7 positive COVID cases,  4  close contacts were identified, and there were 0 class closures. Communication to families whose students were identified as close contacts has been completed. If you have not already been personally contacted, it  means your student was NOT in close contact with any of the COVID-19 cases. 

    End-of-Grade/Course Testing

    Our end of year testing window has started and runs until June 10. This includes End-of-Grade tests, End-of-Course tests, CTE assessments, and teacher final exams. The dates are posted on our school website. 

    Take Two

    Take Two summer programming for students who did not pass the EOG or EOC in any subject will be June 15-24 at SCS from 9:30 a.m. — 1:00 p.m. If your child qualifies for this summer opportunity, you will receive a letter sent home with your child this week. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided.

    The last day of school is June 10 and school will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. 

    Graduation Information

    Graduation is only a week away! Graduation Rehearsal is Friday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. If you have any questions about Graduation, contact Coach Barnes. 

    Graduation Ticket Information

    Step 1: Students must go to this website to create an account https://goduke.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/EVExecMacro?linkID=duke-athletics&evm=myac&entry=LogOff.html using school email to signup.

    Step 2: You will receive your 10 tickets via (personal promo code) from Ms. Settle to your school email account.

    Step 3: In order to get your tickets you will need to use the promo code that Ms. Settle sent to your school email and put it in your GoDuke account that you created and look for the box that says “Enter Promo Codes” at the top right.

    Step 4: After entering the promo code you should receive links for each ticket to be able to distribute to your guests.

    Lastly, each of you will receive 10 tickets but can request as many as 10 extra tickets, if you will need more tickets you the student will need email Ms. Settle directly not your parents. Students will start receiving promo code starting Thursday June 2nd  with all students having their promo code by Friday June 3rd.

    Credit by Demonstrated Mastery

    Credit by Demonstrated Mastery summer testing registration is open until Friday, June 10th.  Credit by Demonstrated Mastery is a two-phase process by which students can earn credit for a course by demonstrating a deep understanding and mastery of application of content standards prior to taking the course. Students who successfully complete CDM receive a pass/fail grade and course credit. This can be for high school or middle school students who want to request the opportunity to earn credit through high school courses offered.   • Gryphon Art Yard!

    An art showcase of all students of the 2021-2022 Visual Arts classes, and independent student artists. Take an in-school field trip down to the small gym to experience students’ 2D, 3D, & Digital Artworks. The art exhibit last from June 6-7 in-person from 9:30- 2:00 pm. For parents, family, or friends viewing there will be a zoom video showcase on June 7-8 after school from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm. Teachers may take their class down to view the art exhibit but all solo students must get written permission from their teachers to attend. All solo students without a pass and not accompanied by a teacher will be sent back to class. Please come and see our Gryphon Art Yard.
