AUDACITY LABS LAUNCHES FALL COHORT
Audacity Labs is a startup incubator that empowers teens with the tools and resources to effectively develop a start-up venture. The application for the fall cohort is now open. A virtualACT Strategy & Score Report Review Session will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm. Registration is required. This session will be provided to help students interpret test results, understand successful ways to prep for tests and expectations for improvement, also discover the flexibility afforded by test-optional policies and COVID-19’s impact on college admission testing.

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of September 6.
School is closed tomorrow, Monday, September 6 in recognition and honor of Labor Day. We’ll see students Tuesday.
All of the Individual Student Reports for state assessments taken during the 2020-21 school year have now been loaded into the PowerSchool Parent Portal. You can access your student’s reports by clicking the “State Test Reports” icon in the navigation pane on the left side of the parent portal. If you do not have access to the parent portal, need a hard copy of your student’s reports, or need a Spanish explanation of the report, contact the school where your child took the assessment. For students who tested here at SCS, please contact Vanessa Barnes at 919-560-3535 ext. 14101 or email to vanessa_barnes@dpsnc.net.

We need you to join the SCS PTSA!!!
If your child is having COVID-related symptoms or if you are having your child tested for COVID, notify me or the main office. COVID testing must be PCR/molecular testing. See the attached flyers for some of the free testing sites in Durham. This is not a complete list of free testing sites, just a few that we are partnered with. Please use these or other community sites or the local health department as we do not want to overwhelm the Emergency Departments.
Mark your calendars for some important upcoming dates:
Wednesday, September 15 is an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 16 is a Teacher Workday and there will be no school for students.
Friday, September 17 is the last day of the first quarter. Students will be out of school for intersession September 20 – October 8. Students return to school October 11.
