Tuesday, May 17 is a Teacher Workday—NO SCHOOL for students!


Attention all Juniors and Seniors!! Super Awesome Games, a gaming company owned by Epic Games is offering a summer internship. This is a virtual opportunity that will meet by Zoom twice a week. This is an amazing opportunity for students interested in pursuing employment in the gaming industry. Space is limited and you must contact Ms. Settle if interested!


Invitations for the Gryphons Get Down Pizza Party were sent to your Canvas inboxes yesterday (middle school & Math I) and TODAY for all others! If you showed growth on any of your End-of-Year Benchmark Assessments, you will receive an invitation. The parties will be held Monday, May 16—Middle School at 11:30 a.m. and High School at 12:45 p.m.


If you have put up signs that are now expired, please take them down.


National Junior Honor Society applications were distributed last week. Seventh and Eighth grade students with a semester 1 average above 80 in all classes were invited to apply. Please contact Ms. Dix is you believe you were overlooked in error or if you have questions. Applications are due Friday, May 13.


Juniors interested in participating in the Emily Center Summer Intensive College Prep class please visit Ms. Settle’s website for registration information. This program is designed to help students with financial aid, residency applications, college essays and more! Registration must be complete by May 23.


Seniors—Ms. Settle is still updating the scholarship page on her website. Please visit this page often to make sure that you are not missing out on opportunities for FREE MONEY for college!


The 7th Annual YMA/Jr. YMA Banquet will be held at Southside Church 800 Elmira Ave from 5 pm – 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 14th.  If you would like to attend, please see Coach Barnes.  The cost is $15.  There will be seated meals and desserts served.

Northern High School Cheerleading Tryouts will be held May 16-19. This tryout will be for both football and basketball seasons. Please stop by the main office to pick up a flyer so you can be aware of the tryout process.


SCS Gardening Club will be held Tuesdays until 5:15 p.m. We will meet in Room 110 (Ms. Granger’s room) Lots to plan and do as we beautify our courtyard!


High school Basketball Clubs has been moved to Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:15 – 5:30 pm.  Please sign up with Mr. Pantoja in order to play.  

There are plenty of spots open.


This year we are happy to offer the “Price Promise” Award to graduating seniors. Seniors who meet the criteria will be recognized at our Graduation Ceremony and will receive a certificate of participation and a graduation gift from SCS. Application forms are available in the main office or from Ms. Neville.

Ms. Price reminds us that “The Learning Never Ends”. Seniors, in order to receive the “Price Promise” Award, you must meet these criteria:

1—Select an extra-curricular activity such as an internship, community service activity, mentorship or other activity that complements their academic preparation;

2—Provide documentation to Ms. Neville of your chosen activity;

3—Write a statement that describes the value of your participation in your chosen activity and how it will prepare you for life after graduation.

Seniors, please make sure that Mrs. Settle receives your college acceptance letters and scholarship offers.  This information will only be announced with your permission.

National Honor Society tutors to the rescue!

Honor Society students will be available to tutor in a variety of topics starting Wednesday, February 2nd, and moving forward weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays during lunch and after school in the cafeteria student lounge.

Let’s be clear, walk-ins are welcome during lunch and after school, but evenings are by appointment only in half hour time slots due to limited tutors.  

Students requesting help need to come prepared with all their work materials to make the most of the time.  If you need any assistance, please see Ms. Fletcher in room 109 or Ms. Black in room 115.  


Students, you are reminded not to share your passwords with anyone. If you are found to be misusing technology (logging in as someone else, sending inappropriate content, looking up inappropriate content, etc.) or engaging in bullying/harassment, there will be consequences according to the Student Code of Conduct.
