Back to School Form

While we’re looking forward to a strong finish to the school year, we’re also planning for NEXT year. Whether your child will be with us or moving on to another DPS school next year, we’re taking every step to ensure in advance that it will be the BEST YEAR EVER. We need you to complete our new BACK TO SCHOOL FORM so that you can register for bus transportation, confirm your contact information, and more. You can find instructions on the DPS website at DPSNC.net,  Link to DPS Enrollment Page or you can come by our school support event Tuesday, April 19 between 3:00 and 5:30 p.m.  for help filling out the form. If you need an appointment outside of this event, please contact Ms. Fleming. Again, this is very important to ensure that your child has bus transportation lined up for next year, in addition to other important information. Working together, we can make next year the BEST YEAR EVER for our students. Thank you in advance!

Other Resources for Parents:

Benchmark Pizza Party

We have EOY Benchmarks coming up April 21-29. This is for EOG’s in Reading and Math grades 6 and 7, Reading, Math and Science for grade 8, and Math I, Math III, English II and Biology for our high school students.

Any student who shows any growth in any assessment from MOY Benchmarks to EOY Benchmarks will be invited to our Gryphon Get Down Pizza Party. There will be music, pizza, snacks, raffles, and other activities. This will be during school hours and you will get to miss class to attend. We will have a middle school party and a high school party.

May 16—Middle School @ 11:30 a.m.

May 16—High School @ 12:45 p.m.

Note that we also use the data from Benchmarks to determine which students will need to attend the Take Two summer program in June. Please encourage your students to do their best on these assessments.

Price Promise Award

This year we are happy to offer the “Price Promise” Award to graduating seniors. Seniors who meet the criteria will be recognized at our Graduation Ceremony and will receive a certificate of participation and a graduation gift from SCS. Application forms are available in the main office or from Ms. Neville.

Ms. Price reminds us that “The Learning Never Ends”. Seniors, in order to receive the “Price Promise” Award, you must meet these criteria:

1—Select an extra-curricular activity such as an internship, community service activity, mentorship or other activity that complements their academic preparation;

2—Provide documentation to Ms. Neville of your chosen activity;

3—Write a statement that describes the value of your participation in your chosen activity and how it will prepare you for life after graduation.

Have a great evening from all of us at SCS where we practice the 4C’s–Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Community.
