Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for April 11, 2022.
This week SCS reported 1 positive COVID cases, 0 close contacts were identified, and there were 0 class closures. Communication to families whose students were identified as close contacts has been completed. If you have not already been personally contacted, it means your student was NOT in close contact with any of the COVID-19 cases.
Board Votes to Recommended Rather than Require Face Coverings Effective April 11
The Durham Public Schools Board of Education, in recognition of the reduction of COVID cases in the Durham community, has voted to recommend rather than require the wearing of face coverings across the district effective April 11.
Report cards went home with students Friday. If students were absent or didn’t go to the class where they passed out, they should see their teacher to pick up their report card Monday. If you have any questions about receipt of your report card, please contact Ms. Fleming, our Data Manager. If you have questions about grades, contact the individual teachers.
This week is a short week for students. Thursday is a teacher workday and Friday is the Good Friday Holiday so there will be no school for students Thursday and Friday.
Teacher Appreciation Messages
SCS students and families, it’s time to show your appreciation for our SCS teachers and staff. The PTSA is collecting messages of gratitude about your teachers and staff that will be shared during Teacher Appreciation Week. Please consider submitting a short, positive message, video or photo. You can find the link on our website, the PTSA website, social media and my blog.
Back to School Form
While we’re looking forward to a strong finish to the school year, we’re also planning for NEXT year. Whether your child will be with us or moving on to another DPS school next year, we’re taking every step to ensure in advance that it will be the BEST YEAR EVER. We need you to complete our new BACK TO SCHOOL FORM so that you can register for bus transportation, confirm your contact information, and more. You can find instructions on the DPS website at DPSNC.net, or you can come by our school support event Tuesday, April 19 between 3:00 and 5:30 p.m. for help filling out the form. If you need an appointment outside of this event, please contact Ms. Fleming. Again, this is very important to ensure that your child has bus transportation lined up for next year, in addition to other important information. Working together, we can make next year the BEST YEAR EVER for our students. Thank you in advance!
Have a great evening from all of us at SCS where we practice the 4C’s–Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Community.
