YMA/Jr. YMA Parent Meeting on Zoom

We have been offered free tickets to the Temptations concert at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary N.C. on September 25, 2021. 


    The doors open at 6:00pm 

    The concert begins at 7:30pm

Mr. Evans is a current member of the band and will be performing. Please see the form to indicate how many tickets you would like to order.


Attention Middle School Girls! Girl Talk will meet beginning Quarter 2 in October! Ms. Bridges is looking for high school girls interested in being a mentor. If you are interested, please see Ms. Bridges by next Wednesday.


High school students, please turn in your fee waiver and consent form to V. Barnes if you have not done so.



A virtualACT Strategy & Score Report Review Session will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm.  Registration is required.  This session will be provided to help students interpret test results, understand successful ways to prep for tests and expectations for improvement, also discover the flexibility afforded by test-optional policies and COVID-19’s impact on college admission testing.

We are recognizing students this month, September, who display self-management by Managing Impulsivity, Striving for Accuracy, and Questioning and Posing Problems.


If you want to register for the Microbit/Coding Club, please see Mr. Oakley or Mr. Williams for a registration form. The Microbit Kit is yours to keep. This club is 90% virtual. If you don’t want to attend the club but would like to purchase the Microbit Kit, please see Mr. Oakley or Ms. Williams, the cost is $50.00. Deadline is Wednesday, September 15.

We have posted this information on our social media outlets and Canvas Global Announcements. Hard copy forms were given to 1st period teachers to pass out to students.


“The Homework Help & After School Tutoring Club is back!  If you need some camaraderie, some motivation, or just the space to get things done, come join us in Ms. Dix’s room — that’s Room 235 on the 8th grade hall.  We meet every Tuesday and Thursday after school for snacks and schoolwork!”


All Juniors and Senior prom tickets are on sale right now for the special rate of $55.  This rate applies to all juniors & guests and senior guests only.  Seniors, please turn in your senior dues to Coach Barnes & Ms. Street.  This deal will end before Thanksgiving break.

Fill that Bus! We are collecting school supplies for all DPS teachers on behalf of Crayons 2 Calculators. Items headed are pencils, crayons, scissors, colored pencils, glue sticks, markers and clipboards. Please drop off items outside of the Student Services Office in the big plastic box. Thank you!


Juniors and Seniors interested in pursuing college in history or political science, consider applying for the US Senate Youth Program. If chosen, you will spend a week in Washington and earn a $10,ooo scholarship. The application can be found on Ms. Settle’s website.


Students you are reminded to watch your distance from each other in the halls. Use the dots to guide you. Stay on the right side of the hall and keep your volume low because there are other classes in session.

Masks are to be worn at all times when on campus. They should cover your nose and mouth at all times. If you need a mask break, ask your teacher to go to a mask break area.
