Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of August 23.
We are excited about welcoming you to our Virtual Curriculum Night and General PTSA Meeting at 6:00 p.m. August 25. The log in information is available in the email version of this message and in Canvas Global Announcements. We look forward to seeing you Wednesday evening.
Also on Wednesday, look out for printed progress reports to come home with your student. Each student should receive 7 progress reports. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s grades, please contact the individual teacher.
We encourage you to join us for the PTSA meeting promptly at 6:00. Again, the links will be available in the daily Canvas Global Announcements. Join us to learn more about our PTSA and some of the things we have planned for this year. The PTSA will also hold elections during the meeting. We currently do not have an official PTSA President for this school year. Tanisha Davis, our past PTSA President, will step back into the role, if no one is nominated for the position. If Ms. Davis needs to resume the role of President, we will need a new Treasurer for this school year. We are also actively seeking a new secretary. Please consider volunteering for these important roles. An active and involved PTSA helps SCS to be a great school. The link to view and nominate for our open positions will be included in the email version of this message.

Join the PTSA for a burritoful evening at Chipotle on N. Roxboro Rd. Tuesday, August 31 from 4:00–8:00 pm. The flyers to present to Chipotle for our fundraiser are on our social media site & website, theSCSPTSA.com. Thank you for helping to support our school!
If your child is having COVID-related symptoms or if you are having your child tested for COVID, notify me or the main office. We need to make sure that we are following appropriate protocols and communicating with you quickly. Teachers are busy and may not get to their emails immediately. Remember that if your child is ill, you must keep them at home. Help us remind your student about wearing their masks appropriately, fully covering nose and mouth.
Please review the new guide: A to Z: DPS’s COVID-19 PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR 2021-2022. It can be found on our website under District Updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
The DPS returning student registration portal is now open and ready for use. If you have a student who was in a DPS school last year, you will use the returning student registration portal to complete your child’s registration process for the 21-22 school year. There will be no paper registration packets. You may complete the registration process by going through your Parent Portal account, or, if you do not have a Parent Portal account, with a unique snapcode you can obtain via the email sent on 7/20/2021 to the address we have on file. If you do not have a parent portal account and did not receive an email with your unique snapcode, please contact the school directly at 919-560-3535 for assistance. Please note that the registration process CANNOT be completed using the PowerSchool mobile app. You must complete the process using the browser on your phone or computer. Please have this process completed by August 30. Contact Ms. Fleming for further assistance or questions regarding the return student registration portal.
We know that the app is not always updated in the afternoons with arrival times, so we will notify if a bus leaves SCS late via Facebook and Twitter posts.
Always check our website, my blog—Price’s Write, our Facebook page, and Twitter for frequent updates about what’s going on at SCS.
Have a great evening from everyone at SCS where we practice the 4C’s–Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Community.
