Weekly Message–March 29-April 2, 2021

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your Weekly Message for the week of March 29, 2021.


Dates for Spring Break are March 29–April 2. April 5, 6 and 7 will be asynchronous learning days so teachers can prepare for in-person learning. 


School Nutrition Services is updating our free meal services and SCS is now a pick-up site.  Meals are now available at no cost for any child up to 18 years old—one breakfast and one lunch, per child, per day. Families may pick up meals at SCS in the front carpool line daily Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

This will accommodate any students who are in “cohort” session off-site, siblings who are not in school and non-DPS children.  

Parents and guardians of Durham children, learning in the 100% virtual method, may sign up for weekly home meal deliveries through EAT NC. Details are available at eatnorthcarolina.org/dpsschoolmeals.


Those returning to in-person learning, be on the lookout for a letter with details and instructions for returning to school. Please review this information and let us know if you have any questions prior to your child’s cohort start date. Remember that all students must wear a mask on campus. Bandanas, gaiters and vented masks are not allowed. We will provide masks to students who need them.

You are invited to participate in a virtual cooking night sponsored by the SCS PTSA on TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2021 at 6:30 pm!  Each participant will complete 2 recipes as SWEET faces off versus SAVORY.  After completing and tasting both of the recipes – Breakfast Muffin Rounds and Bangin’ Guac Toast – participants will vote on which recipe they preferred.  

To participate, please complete this RSVP Form by Monday, April 5th.  We will provide ALL ingredients for participants.  Items will be available for pick-up at SCS on Sunday, April 18th from 12:00-4:00 pm or on Monday, April 19th from 5:00-6:00 pm.
