Women’s History Month Spotlight

The “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin is one of the greatest American artists of all time. Her multi-octave voice moved millions around the world during an unrivaled career that spanned six decades and allowed the singer-songwriter to acquire every achievement and honor imaginable. Franklin’s musical gifts became apparent at an early age. A gifted pianist with a powerful voice, Franklin got her start singing in front of her father’s congregation. Franklin released several popular singles, many of which are considered classics. In 1987, she became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2008, she won her 18th Grammy Award, making her one of the most honored artists in Grammy history.

 ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

The application deadlines for high school seniors to apply to two of our guaranteed admissions pathways,  C-STEP to UNC Chapel Hill, and C3 to NC State are upcoming. The deadline for C-STEP is April 1, and the deadline for C3 is rolling until June 1.  These pathways might be good options for students who worry about college costs or fall just below the admissions criteria for entrance straight from high school but are still strong students.

C-STEP Information Sessions (Virtual):  Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10, at 4:00 pm (e-mail binghaml@durhamtech.edu for the link to join)

NC State C3 Virtual Drop-In Hours: various dates and times, including evenings.
