Black History Month is observed during February. This is a time to discover and celebrate people, places and situations that are unique about Blacks in America. Each Wednesday during February our Community Circle will host members of our community that have stories and accomplishments that are particular to the Black community and that benefit everyone.
This week, student athletes from North Carolina Central (NCCU) will join us to tell their stories of success and to invite you to explore the benefits of attending an HBCU.
How many of you know what an HBCU is? Do you know what is unique about NCCU and the opportunities for success for its graduates? Please plan to join us and welcome these dynamic students on Wednesday, February 3rd at 10:00 to learn more and to get a glimpse of what is possible for you.
Go to the Wellness Wednesday site on CANVAS for more information about this event and others during this month.

Patricia Bath
Bath, an ophthalmologist who pioneered the use of laser technology in ophthalmologic surgery, invented the Laserphaco Probe in 1986, which was patented two years later. The device used an innovative way to remove cataracts with a laser and helped reduce inaccuracies in surgeries.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office, which has singled out Dr. Bath’s achievement several times over the years, said in a 2014 news release that her work had “helped restore or improve vision to millions of patients worldwide.”
