The North Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting its annual Aviation Art Contest, which is open to children ages 6-17.
Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
This year’s theme is “A Friendlier World with Air Sports.” Air shows offer it all; everyone is invited to share in the joy. While being in the sky is glamorous, it is only part of the adventure. Every journey begins on the ground with a team of people working together to accomplish what one person alone never could. The camaraderie created in this process is one of the things that keeps people coming back again and again. Air sports connect people from all over the world and of all ages, and create lifelong friendships. When the day’s adventure is over, both participants and spectators leave with new friends, as well as stories to share.
All children who live in or attend school in North Carolina are invited to grab their favorite art supplies (however pencils, including colored pencils, are prohibited) and create a poster that captures the friendlier world that comes from people meeting and sharing their love of sport aviation. The top three entries in each age group will be forwarded to Washington, DC to be judged in the national competition. The artwork of the national winners will be sent to Switzerland to compete in the international competition.
Awards for our North Carolina winners range from $25 — $225.
Junior | Intermediate | Senior | |
1st Place | $75 | $100 | $225 |
2nd Place | $50 | $75 | $150 |
3rd Place | $25 | $50 | $100 |
The student artwork will be returned to the student if:
– The student does not place (1st, 2nd, 3rd) at the National level, and
– Appropriate return packaging/mailer and postage are provided by the student or school AT THE TIME THE ARTWORK IS SUBMITTED.
Artwork should be mailed to:
