Weekly Message–December 14-18, 2020

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your Weekly Message for December 14-January 1.

Our next General Meeting of the PTSA will be held December 15 at 6:30 p.m. Please plan to join us to stay on top of what’s been going on.  You do not have to be a member to attend, but we’d love for you to join!  There will be a raffle for gift baskets that would make lovely gifts. Plan to attend our upcoming Dine-Out Night at Chipotle Roxboro Rd. on January 11 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

The deadline to submit proof of required immunizations and school health assessments has been extended to Dec. 30, 2020. After this point a student must be excluded from in-person and remote learning until compliant with requirements.

All 7th graders in North Carolina are required by state law (Statute G.S. 130-A-152 (a), Administrative Code 10A NCAC 41A.0401) to receive one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis) vaccine and one dose of MCV (Meningococcal) vaccine. All 12th graders in North Carolina are required by state law (Statute G.S. 10A NCAC 41A .0401) to receive Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine (MenACWY). If your student is in need of these immunizations, you should have received a letter from the school via US Mail.

If you don’t have your Parent Portal account, we are available Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 for you to stop by the school to pick up your Parent Portal Account information. You will need to bring your picture ID. If these hours are not convenient for you, please call the school so we can assist you with getting your Parent Portal information.

The directions for creating a Canvas Parent Observer Account can be found at canvas.dpsnc.net.  There you will find step-by-step written directions, a video explanation, Canvas Observer Guide and information for downloading the mobile app.  It is important that you create an observer account because some announcements will only be sent to Parent Observers and you can see your child’s activity in Canvas.

Seniors, it is not too late for you to order your cap & gown. Visit jostens.com and select our school.

Students will be on winter break from December 21-January 1. They will return to school virtually on Monday, January 4.

We wish you all a wonderful week and a safe winter break.
