Weekly Message–November 2-6, 2020

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your Weekly Message for the week of November 2.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 3. There will be no school for students. YWE would like to remind you to vote.

As part of a Gates Foundation grant application focused on improving student outcomes in NC Math 1, we will be conducting a survey of current 10th grade students to gather their reflections on their experience of 9th grade mathematics.  This survey will be sent directly to students via email.

Parents, we are still available Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 for you to stop by the school to pick up your Parent Portal Account information. You will need to bring your picture ID. If these hours are not convenient for you, please call the school so we can assist you with getting your Parent Portal information.

We have changed how attendance is collected on Wellness Wednesdays. Starting Wednesday, October 21, students will need to log into 7th period only and answer the question of the day. The 7th period teacher will then record the attendance for the day. Students must log into Canvas, check into 7th period class and answer the Question of the Day by 2:00 p.m.

We have received science materials for grades 6 and 7 that students will need for instruction this quarter. Please plan to stop by the office at your earliest convenience to pick up these science kits for your student.

We encourage you to join our PTSA. Students are also encouraged to join. We have regularly scheduled meetings for students so they can make their voice heard about activities at our school. The link to join www.thescsptsa.com.

Check Global Announcements and social media for future college visits and other important activities for Wednesdays.

Go to the SCS Wellness Wednesday Canvas Page for the link. Click here to join the SCS Wellness Wednesday Course:

The directions for creating a Canvas Parent Observer Account can be found at canvas.dpsnc.net.  There you will find step-by-step written directions, a video explanation, Canvas Observer Guide and information for downloading the mobile app.  It is important that you create an observer account because some announcements will only be sent to Parent Observers and you can see your child’s activity in Canvas.

Have a good evening from all of us at SCS where we practice the 4 C’s – Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Community.
