Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your Weekly Message for the week of October 12.

The SCS Clubs Canvas page is now live. Students must access clubs through the Canvas page. Please check the Canvas page because clubs are held throughout the week. We hope that you continue to join and enjoy clubs. 

High school students will have the opportunity to meet with two College Admission Counselors Wednesday, October 14–Johnson & Wales 11 a.m.; Maryville- 12:30 p.m.

All parents are invited to attend our next Pop in with Price session Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. The topic of this session will be to hear about the changes for next quarter and we’ll hold a town hall style meeting with PTSA asking me questions about student achievement and PTSA involvement. I will put the Zoom link in the Global Announcement for Canvas Observers only. I look forward to spending time with you Thursday evening. 

Parents, we are still available Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 for you to stop by the school to pick up your Parent Portal Account information. You will need to bring your picture ID. If these hours are not convenient for you, please call the school so we can assist you with getting your Parent Portal information. It is important for you to have your account set up to access grades and future progress reports and report cards. Report cards will not be printed, so you will need to have your Parent Portal Accounts activated. 

The directions for creating a Canvas Parent Observer Account can be found at canvas.dpsnc.net.  There you will find step-by-step written directions, a video explanation, Canvas Observer Guide and information for downloading the mobile app.  It is important that you create an observer account because some announcements will only be sent to Parent Observers and you can see your child’s activity in Canvas. 

The quarter ends Friday, October 16. Please have your child check grades and set expectations to finish the quarter strong. Monday, October 19 is a teacher workday and Remote Learning Day for students. Teachers may assign asynchronous assignments. If they do, they will notify students by October 16.
